So, if you have fairly arty friends, or in my case roommates, chances are you also have random paint in “funky” colors left over from their attempts to decide on room color.  You will be even more blessed if some of these roommates are a touch, shall we say, indecisive.  These paints one can deploy on random items bound for the garden.  Currently we have pacific rim, elmo’s fire, stem green, and some other fancy sounding orange color.  Given that I have decided to make some impromptu shelves for the garden out of old crates I scored in the trash.  I like the weathered look of the outside so I have left that alone, and just painted the inside.  The garden going to have a lot of orange, green and purple, so I used the elmo’s fire and the stem green.  The orange could probably use a second coat.  Sure it is not outdoor paint, but I’m not protecting anything really precious, and the paint would have just gone to the dump.
